Wellington is gearing up for Beervana, New Zealand’s premiere beer festival, which will be held at Westpac Stadium on Friday 22 August and Saturday 23 August. Leading up to the actual festival is a veritable smorgasbord of beer events held at venues around the Craft Beer Capital which has come to be known as the Road to Beervana.
Beervana itself will be a two day celebration of craft beer with well over 200 beers on offer around the concourse. These include a number of beers created specifically for the event. Brewers have created special Festive Brews to celebrate Spring while journalists have teamed up with local breweries to produce unique Media Brews using quintessentially Kiwi ingredients.
A number of popular local restaurants will be offering beer-friendly food under the watchful eye of Culinary Director Martin Bosley. There will be a range of tastings and tutorials on all topics beery, as well as the official launch of the Spiegelau Stout Glass and Beervana’s first live podcasts. Under the new Beervana Exchange initiative, Beervana will hosting a group of talented brewers and chefs from Portland. They have brought over their award winning beers and are keen to chat to Kiwis.
The Road to Beervana is a whole week of beer events all around Wellington. There will be beer launches, beer and food matching, meet the brewer sessions, degustation dinners, pop up bars, photography exhibits and tap takeovers.
