New World and PAK’nSAVE have linked forces with LSG Sky Chefs, a global transportation and retail food service provider, to offer a new range of in-store ready-to-heat meals for customers. There are six meals on offer, which are made fresh daily at LSG Sky Chefs facilities in South Auckland and includes five meat options and one vegetarian option.
Rebecca Tuhakaraina, Head of Delicatessen for Foodstuffs North Island says, “with international travel limited for the foreseeable future, vendors who supply and work with the aviation industry are experiencing a marked decrease in demand. We saw a natural opportunity to combine New World and PAK’nSAVE’s needs to deliver convenient meals for customers, and LSG Sky Chefs expertise in curating ready-to-heat restaurant quality meals, to provide a unique meal solution that’s affordable, quick and delicious.”
The meals are ideal for vulnerable individuals who are unable to leave their homes, individuals who live alone, and for families who want a home-style cooked meal but need a night’s break from full-on scratch cooking or for people who prefer to stay at home.
“The meals are not airplane food from 35,000 feet brought down to ground level,” says Tuhakaraina. “We looked at what our customers were telling us, which was that they wanted more convenient, affordable and healthy meals, and we leveraged these insights with LSG Sky Chefs culinary experts to deliver our suite of ‘meat and three’ ready-to-heat meals.”
Participating stores will offer a classic range and a premium range for customers. The classic meal range includes chicken Provencal with pasta and veges, pork cacciatore with polenta and veges, and mushroom, pumpkin and leek macaroni. The premium meal range includes Moroccan chicken with roasted pumpkin and apricot couscous, braised beef with rice and vege, and slow-cooked lamb shoulder and gravy with potato, pumpkin and peas.
Both the Classic and Premium meals are $10 and under and are ready to eat after a quick heat in the microwave.

The ready-to-heat meals can be found in participating New World and PAK’nSAVE North Island stores’ chilled deli sections.
