Kiwi icon Rachel Hunter came back home to visit the Vogel’s Toast of NZ Café in Auckland recently, to taste 12 innovative recipes starring Vogel’s bread. rsz_rachel_hunter_testing-1As part of the brand’s new campaign, Rachel’s task was to select a single Vogel’s masterpiece to be named ‘Rachel’s Fave’.

The supermodel, who worked with Vogel’s in 1992 and appeared in a TV ad which asked Kiwis travelling to Los Angeles to bring her Vogel’s, flew to New Zealand to visit the café on its final day in Auckland. The Vogel’s Toast of NZ Café then tours New Zealand throughout July to showcase the best Vogel’s masterpieces that Kiwis have to offer.

After calling for entries from throughout New Zealand, judges made the call on the top 40 innovative recipes before they were whittled down by public vote to just 12. These top 12 now make up the menu at the café as it tours much of New Zealand this month.

The recipes are divided into four categories – breakfast, lunch, dessert and ‘to share’ – and the team at Vogel’s is thrilled by the creative and delectable recipes that have made the cut. From Auckland Chef Paul Jobin’s Vogel’s Bread Ice Cream Sandwich to Wairarapa woman Sonja Bremmers and her Banana, Date, Walnut, Manuka Honey and Cinnamon on Vogel’s, the top 12 recipes are mouth-watering. In the end, Rachel Hunter’s favourite recipe was ‘The Big Hug’ – a Pear and Camembert Bake created by Barby Barclay from the Waikato.
