Waikato-based Meyer Cheese has just struck Gold at the World Cheese Awards in the UK. Gold went to the Meyer Vintage Gouda and Silver to Meyer Smoked Cheese.

US Culture Magazine recently listed Meyer Smoked Cheese as one of the world’s 75 best cheeses.

Miel Meyer is a multi-award-winning cheese maker who produces a wide range of cheeses on the family farm near Hamilton. Earlier this year, Meyer won the Champion Cheesemaker Award (for the second time) at the 2015 New Zealand Champions of Cheese Awards. This is the third consecutive year that Dutch-style cheesemakers scooped top honours in New Zealand, with Master Judge Russell Smith saying that New Zealand made Dutch-style cheese is “as good as it gets anywhere in the world”.
