More than 100 New Zealanders had extra reason to celebrate this Christmas after winning in New World’s nationwide Epic Prize Pool giveaway. Prizes included $100,000 cash, two Jeeps, two boats, ten Pacific Island holidays and dozens of recreational goods including bikes, barbecues and playgrounds.
“Christmas is a time for giving, and what better way to celebrate that than to surprise our customers with the kinds of presents we all dream about,” says Stephanie Pyne, National Retail Marketing Manager for Foodstuffs New Zealand.
“We had some really life-changing, big-ticket items up for grabs, plus loads of ‘fun’ prizes to be enjoyed as the weather heats up – from barbecues to bikes, playgrounds to spa pools – gifts to bring the whole family together.”
New World Kumeu customer Mary Flego was drawn as the $100,000 cash prize winner. She said: “I’m on cloud nine – I keep thinking it can’t be true.” She added that the win feels like a turning point for herself and husband Steno, who have both undergone treatment for cancer in the last three years. “It feels like we’ve been through one thing after another, so I had been thinking it would be really nice to have our luck change,” she says.
The commercial flower grower plans to spend the money refurbishing their home and fulfilling their travel dreams. “I’ve always wanted to do one of those cruises down the Rhine in Germany, but it always seemed a little too expensive, too decadent,” says Flego.
The Epic Prize Pool was open to New World customers right around the country from 19th October to 8th November. To be in to win, shoppers simply had to buy any three products from a range of participating brands and swipe their Fly Buys or New World Clubcard.
