A long held New Zealand tradition of enjoying a pie and a beer is being celebrated in a genius new limited edition offering from I Love Pies and Wellington craft brewers, Tuatara Brewing. Tuatara is a Kapiti Coast, locally-owned, quintessentially Kiwi craft beer brewery, brewing since 2000.
I Love Pies co-founder Maree Glading says the development of their new pie was a meeting of the minds between themselves and Tuatara and is a classic flavour combination.
“We turned to Tuatara as we believe their approach to hand-crafting beautiful products is one that aligns with our pie-making ethos. We both believe in using the best quality ingredients available, and making products with love and care.”
The pie is made with slow cooked tender Angus Beef steak and the full-flavoured, hand-crafted Aotearoa Pale Ale. Brewed with 100% Kiwi hops, this beer gives the filling a lovely depth and subtle beer flavour, says Glading.
Tuatara Brewing Co’s, Blair Harley, says craft beer naturally goes hand-in-hand with quality food and produce. “We have people and restaurants often tell us they use our beer in their dishes and we always carefully consider what food pairing is most complementary with each of our beer styles.”
The pie is available in select New Worlds, Pak n Save and Countdown supermarkets as well as Farro Fresh stores from August (RRP $4.99).
