Around 160,000 trade visitors from 192 countries attended the Anuga trade fair in Cologne, Germany, from 10 to 14 October 2015. There were over 7,000 exhibitors from 108 countries and this year Greece was the official partner country of Anuga. It was represented by over 200 Greek exhibitors, who presented the variety and quality of Greece’s food industry.
A wide range of innovative beverages, convenience and ready-to-cook products, healthy and functional foods were on display throughout the trade fair. Halal products had their own platform at Anuga.
“Free-from” concepts such as lactose-free and gluten-free products are also extremely trendy right now, said one of the exhibitors at Anuga.
Vegetarian offers were in high demand, as well as organic and fair trade products. Among the many innovations on display was a choux pastry with a filling of quark cream and fruit (instead of cream). Available in raspberry, mango or vanilla flavour, the organic ‘bio’ cream puffs come frozen and are ready to eat once defrosted.
The next Anuga will take place from 7 to 11 October 2017.
