The drinks are on Coca-Cola this summer

Coca-Cola’s Designated Driver programme returns just in time for summer. The programme aims to reward those unsung heroes who look after their mates during the festive season by providing three free non-alcoholic drinks at participating bars and restaurants to designated drivers.

The Coca-Cola Designated Driver programme was launched in 2016 and has been gaining momentum year-on-year. Close to 400 bars and restaurants are participating this year throughout the country. Now in its third year, the programme continues its dedication to rewarding Kiwis who volunteer to be a Designated Driver this festive season.

“People’s social calendars are particularly busy over the summer months, and we understand no one wants to miss out on the fun. We launched this programme to show gratitude to people who take on the responsibility of being the Designated Driver so their friends get home safely. To show our appreciation, we are shouting them free cold non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while they’re out with friends – because Designated Drivers should be rewarded for looking after their mates,” said Richard Schlasberg, Coca-Cola Oceania Country Manager.

Auckland Transport Community Transport Manager, Claire Dixon said, “Road safety is always a big concern for us, especially during the festive period when people are out and about enjoying the great hospitality Auckland has to offer. Alcohol is a significant contributing factor to road crashes in the Auckland region and we are proud to support Coca-Cola with this important initiative to not only encourage people to be safe but to reward them for making smart choices this summer.”

To participate in the programme, designated drivers just need to TEXT ‘driver’ to 345. They will receive three mobile coupons that can be used to redeem complimentary Coca-Cola beverages at participating bars. A full list of bars can be found at www.coke.co.nz/driver.
