The New Zealand Food Awards team is excited to announce entries are now open and they want you to enter your latest and greatest food and beverage innovations.
This year they’re looking for products that: 
·       Are new to market (less than three years old). 
·       Demonstrate innovation in formulation, production,   process, or distribution. 
·       Have a sustainable lifecycle considering environmental, social and economic outcomes. 
·       Showcase exceptional food technology and food safety. 
·       Deliver an outstanding customer experience. 

What are the categories you can enter?

The New Zealand Food Awards are a celebration of innovation and excellence in the food and beverage industry, with exciting opportunities for both products and people to shine!
“Every year we evolve and make improvements to keep the Awards relevant in the market and this year we are introducing a few new categories, including celebrating the people behind the products, which will recognise the technologists behind game-changing food innovations,” says the team.

The Product Awards

  • Artisan: Focuses on retaining the integrity of the highest quality ingredients. 
  • Beverage: Open to every type of drink, from wine to milk.
  • Chilled/Frozen: Products requiring cool or frozen  storage to maintain product quality and shelf-life.
  • Health and Wellbeing: For products that demonstrate a benefit to the health and wellness of consumers.
  • Ingredient and Food Service: New for 2025! For ingredients or partially prepared food materials developed for the manufacturing / food service industries.
  • Pantry: Food that can safely be stored at ambient temperatures.
  • Primary Sector: Food and beverage producers, researchers and manufacturers who add value to primary products.
  • Technical Innovation: Products that demonstrate technical innovation in raw materials, formulation, processing or packaging and overcome technical challenges. 

The People Awards

  • Emerging Talent in Food Science & Technology: New for 2025! This award recognises an individual early in their career, with less than six years of experience, who has shown significant potential and made an impact in food science and technology, including areas like manufacturing, research, product development, and innovation.
  • Food Technologists/Developers: New for 2025! This award recognises a food technologist, scientist, developer, or consultant who has provided innovative technical expertise in creating a standout food product entered in the awards. The individual may lead or be a key member of the development team and must be named in the product’s application as a significant contributor.

With these awards, the New Zealand food industry gets to showcase its brightest stars and most exciting products!
