Chef Michael Meredith elevates Kettle Korn to another level

Award-winning Chef Michael Meredith.

Award-winning Chef Michael Meredith is renowned for his impeccable degustation menus and he wouldn’t settle for anything less when developing his first retail product – a brand new flavour for New Zealand Kettle Korn.

The result is Mitey Cheese – a combination of (dairy free/vegan friendly) savoury cheese with a bit of mite – which marks the first in a line of chef-inspired flavours for NZ Kettle Korn.

Meredith, who also co-founded Eat My Lunch – the local initiative helping feed hungry Kiwi kids in need – describes the flavour as a “mouth-watering snack  with the perfect umami”.

The 110g Mitey Cheese bag (RRP $3.49) will be available at leading supermarkets in June.

NZ Kettle Korn Directors Michael Howe and Trent Brock say: “We knew consumers wanted unique options and Michael Meredith was the perfect person for this, bringing a huge amount of creativity and expertise to the table.”

Continuing the successful partnership between NZ Kettle Korn and Eat My Lunch, for every new bag someone buys, NZ Kettle Korn will give another to the EML school lunch programme. This is in addition to donating $40,000 and almost 80,000 bags to date.

New Multi Pack

Following consumer demand, NZ Kettle Korn, who recently partnered with Wilson Foods Distribution, is also adding a Sea Salt Multi Pack ($5.49) to the range this month.

With so much on the go, Howe and Brock insist some things will never change and say they’re still operating with the same principles they started with six years ago as the first premium retail popcorn range in the country.

“We make small batch made products that are 100% NZ made with 100% NZ sourced ingredients, lab-certified gluten, soy, dairy and peanut free and vegan/vegetarian friendly. These are all important points of differences to other options in the market.”

And it’s paying off. IRI MarketEdge Data shows NZ Kettle Korn continues to experience strong double digit growth ahead of the overall category in both value and units year on year, say Howe and Brock.
